The dispenser paddle broke off on a Samsung French door refrigerator.
The customer walked up to their Samsung French door refrigerator, pressed the paddle to get some water, and nothing happened. When they looked closer, they could see why. The paddle had snapped clean off. No paddle means no way to trigger the dispenser, so no water, no ice, nothing.

This is a known weak point on Samsung’s RF263 and RF265 series French door fridges. The dispenser paddle on these models is a plastic lever. It takes a lot of daily use, and over time the plastic can give out.

The paddle is part of a full dispenser assembly, so the whole unit had to come out.
On Samsung French door fridges, the dispenser paddle is a plastic actuator lever. When you press it, it physically pushes a small microswitch inside the housing, and that switch tells the fridge to release water or ice. On these Samsung models, the dispenser paddle is a replaceable lever. In many cases, you can swap just the lever on its own. However, when Luis inspected this one, the problem ran deeper. The carrier, the bracket that holds the lever in position and lets it pivot correctly, was also broken..

With the carrier gone, a new lever alone wouldn’t fix it. The lever has nothing to mount to without an intact carrier. So the full dispenser assembly had to come out. Luis disconnected the wiring and the water line, removed the housing from the door, and installed a new assembly. After that, water and ice both worked exactly as they should. The customer had a fully functional dispenser again.
Dispenser paddle broken? Get a diagnostic first.
If the paddle on your Samsung RF263 or RF265 series fridge has snapped, a broken lever is the most likely cause, and on many jobs, just the lever needs replacing. But as this repair shows, the carrier can fail too. Order the wrong part and you’re back to square one.
A diagnostic takes the guesswork out. It confirms exactly what’s broken so you only pay for what the repair actually needs. Get in touch and we’ll get your fridge sorted.
